It has been an honor to serve as Editor of LSHSS since the end of 2003. In the 3 years that our team has been reviewing manuscripts, we processed more than 200 new papers. Including revisions, we read almost 400 total manuscripts. Processing that volume of papers could not have been accomplished without excellent, caring, and meticulous Associate Editors (AEs). I was proud to work with the following AEs for the past 3 years:
- Raquel Anderson
- Dave Ertmer
- Mary Blake Huer
- Laura Justice
- Adele Proctor
- Sean Redmond
- Carol Westby
- Lynn Williams
- Scott Yaruss
They are a credit to the profession, to readers, and to the authors who submitted papers to the journal.
I would also like to extend thanks to:
- Joanne Jessen, ASHA's kind, hard-working, never flustered Director of Publications
- Taniza Holmes, LSHSS's exemplary, affable, efficient Editorial Administrator
- Marc Fey, Chair of the Publications Board (20022005)
- Larry Leonard, Chair of the Publications Board (2005present)
- Elizabeth Grzyb, graduate assistant
- Vanessa Gonzalez, graduate assistant
- Faculty in Communication Sciences and Dean Ron Brown at Temple University for supporting me during my tenure as LSHSS Editor
- My predecessor, Ruth Huntley Bahr, and the Editors of ASHA's other journals
There are three other groups of individuals who are integrally interrelated to the success of any peer review journal: authors, reviewers, and readers. We were fortunate that so many scholars trusted in LSHSS as the appropriate venue for their work. We thank them for their contribution and hope they will continue to submit their fine work to this journal. Hundreds of reviewers freely gave of their time to aid authors in improving the viability of their manuscripts. I was continually impressed by the dedication shown by the reviewers to write comprehensive and constructive reviews in service to their colleagues. A peer review journal is only as strong as its readers, and we are fortunate to be the most subscribed of all ASHA journals. That fact is not only a function of the number of practitioners in the schools, but also a testament to the high-quality papers that are published in the pages of the journal.
It has been a privilege to serve as Editor of this esteemed journal for the past 3 years. As I leave this post, I know that LSHSS will continue to prosper under the leadership of the next Editor.
