Sandra Grassi Nelipovich has been executing her batik on silk art work for more than 30 years. She graduated from the University of Illinois with a BFA in art education and did graduate studies in Florence, Italy, at Northwestern University, and at the Art Institute of Chicago. Nelipovich says that “fanciful themes are the subject of most of my batiks. I believe that art can be fun and optimistic and still make a statement.” She works from her studio in Anaheim, CA. This issue’s selection is titled “Chicago Celebrations.”
